The Iowa Caucus is coming to an end, and perhaps what is most shocking about its results is Rick Santorum‘s last minute surge. According to Google’s live election feed, Santorum and Romney are currently tied in the lead with 25% of the vote. Ron Paul is in a close third with 21% of the vote.
Rick Santorum came in dead last in many of the polls leading up to the first caucus, so the candidate’s surge to first place is impressive. Many people are shocked by these results, but Santorum visited every county in Iowa. Since he spent most of his time in Iowa, perhaps he deserves the win. But he has little chance of winning the GOP nomination. My guess is Mitt Romney will be our nominee with Paul in second. Santorum simply does not have the money or resources to effectively campaign in the following states this late in the game. However, it is amazing that he was able to rally up so much last-minute Iowan support and emerge as the dark horse candidate. Just goes to show that in the craziness that is the GOP election process, anything can happen…

Santorum went to well over 300 town hall meetings in Iowa. He deserved this more than anyone else. However, remember that Huckabee won IA four years ago, and never saw the light of day after that. Santorun is a good guy, but not presidential material. He’ll make a nice Fox News commentator some day soon.
a good guy? his a bigot and and a prude…
