Votes from Iowa‘s caucus are rolling in! Mitt Romney, Ron Paul, and Rick Santorum are all neck and neck in the top three. Romney and Santorum are currently leading with 24% of the vote with Ron Paul close behind with 22% of the vote. But things are changing rapidly as the votes come in.

As a Ron Paul supporter myself, I am thrilled with these results. Doing well in Iowa will give Paul the momentum he needs to pick up support in later states. But the reality is that Paul’s ideas are considered extreme by many Republicans (especially his foreign policy views), and because of this Romney will likely get the nomination. Even if he doesn’t win Iowa, Romney is almost guaranteed to win in New Hampshire. While most Republicans don’t love Romney, they believe he has the best chance of beating Obama. Perhaps most surprising about these results is the sudden surge in Santorum’s support. But even if Santorum wins Iowa, it’s unlikely he will have enough money to run an effective campaign in the following states this late in the game.
